The 13th Sunday
in Ordinary Time

June 28th, 2009

“'Talitha koum,'
which means,
'Little girl, I say to you, arise!'"

We invite you to come and visit our church.

For over a hundred years,
our beautiful church building
has been an oasis of peace
amid the bustle of our urban environment.

The doors of our church are open ALL DAY
as a symbol that ALL are welcomed
to enter and pray.

A church however is just a building.
The real church is the many people
and organizations
who make the parish community at
Holy Family & St. Thomas Aquinas
such a special place.

Please visit our other pages
and discover the
many different facets of our parish.

"This is what we are about.
We plant the seed that one day will grow,
We water the seed already planted,
knowing that
they hold the future promise."

Archbishop Oscar Romero

"God has given me this day to use it as I will. I can waste it ~ or use it for good, but what I do today is important, because I am exchanging a day of my life for it." -- Heartsill Wilson

Over the past 124 years our community has been using our days for good, and as we look forward towards our 125th Anniversary we wish to look back at all those good times.

Our Historical Committee is looking for your special memories. Whether it is a picture, a newspaper article or your own written account those memories will be used to help develop a Commemorative Book or Video.

Your memories can be saved for future generations, without you giving up anything because all of the items we receive will be scanned, recorded and returned to you. Simple send the items to the Rectory with your name and address, and once it is scanned we will mail it back to you.

Thanking you in advance!
The Historical Committee

"I was glad when they said to me,
"Let us go to the
House of the Lord."

GET TO KNOW ST. PAUL

On June 28th, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI officially opened the Pauline year to commemorate St. Paul’s Birth. During this year, the Pope has requested that we get to know St. Paul and learn about his writings and his spirit of Evangelization!

After his dramatic conversion to Christianity, St. Paul’s whole motivation in life was to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and announce to all nations the call to be God’s holy people.

Our world is known for lukewarm faith practice, and where the Christian religion is often seen as not having significant relevance for today, the Pauline Year is an occasion for each one of us to get in touch with our own commitment to Christ.  Especially by way of St. Paul’s own passion for knowing the person of Jesus Christ and his great desire to announce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations of the world.
