Our Blessed Mother is venerated under many different titles throughout the world. In all of her manifestations, she indicates that she is our Mother who loves and stands by us. When the Spanish arrived in Ecuador, the Franciscan friars named a mountain parish "El Cisne" after the European mountain hermitages built and maintained by the "Caballeros of el Cisne" aka "The Horsemen of the Swan". At the end of the 16th Century this parish was afflicted by a severe drought and ensuing famine and a plague of rats. Due to their extreme distress the inhabitants of El Cisne decided to leave the region and migrate to a location not affected by the famine. As they were leaving the Virgin appeared to them and asked them not to leave. She promised that she was their Mother and would watch over her children and if they build a church and practiced their faith they would never be hungry. They obeyed the Virgin and the rains came.

In thanksgiving for the many favors granted through the intercession of Our Lady of El Cisne, arrangement were made for the famous Spanish artist Diego de Robles to carve a statue in honor of the Virgin of El Cisne and this image is venerated to this day. She is referred to as "La Churonita" in honor of her curly hair. The image measures 65 inches tall and is very beautiful. The virgin has a serene oval face, the color of alabaster. The large eye reflect Mary's indefinable kindness and ineffable tenderness towards her children. Her right hand clutches a golden scepter and the left hand lovingly sustains the graceful child Jesus who also holds a golden scepter. The Canonical Coronation of Our Lady of El Cisne occurred on September 8th, 1930.

The basilica of El Cisne was built in 1742 and modeled after a similar basilica in Harlungenberg, Germany, it dominates the red tiled roofs of the town of El Cisne.

All of the new Stained Glass window have emblems of New York City, starting with the image of the Chrysler Building at the top. The Chrysler Building is one of the best know and classic example of Art Deco skyscrapers in New York City. It was the world's tallest building for 11 months until that title was claimed by the Empire State Building in 1931.

All of the new Stained Glass window have emblems of New York City, slightly below the image of the Chrysler Building, we find the Empire State Building behind a church spire on both the left and right sides of the window. The Empire State Building is one of the best know buildings in New York City. An Art Deco skyscraper, it stood as the world's tallest building for over forty years. It has been named by the American Society of Civil Engineers as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. It is especially known for it's lights and King Kong.

The remainder of the images are of the people of Ecuador wearing traditional clothes with musical instruments or Ecuadorian animals.
